Wire EDM and micro EDM in Brindas

STEEC develops several activities in Brindas.
EDM is the process of removing material from a conductive part, eroding it into the desired shape and size using electrical discharges.
In wire EDM, a live wire is immersed in water or another insulating liquid (dielectric) with the workpiece.
The current sent through the system forms an electric arc which causes a precise and programmed degradation of a part of the workpiece. The residues created by the erosion of the part are evacuated by the water or the dielectric liquid.
STEEC performs both wire EDM and thin micro EDM operations.

Equipped with the latest wire EDM technology, STEEC can perform high precision cutting with conventional wire sizes ranging from 0.15 mm to 0.25 mm in diameter in all types of mechanical parts. All ferrous and non-ferrous conductive metals can be cut using this method, for which we generally use brass wire, but also copper, molybdenum or tungsten wire. This cutting technology can generally achieve a surface finish of about 0.4 µm Ra.

In addition to standard wire cutting, STEEC stands out for its ability to perform fine wire EDM cutting. By using wires with a diameter of 0.10 mm, 0.07 mm or even 0.05 mm, STEEC can achieve very high precision in cutting, enabling it to meet the most specific and demanding requirements based on its historical know-how.
